SD Citra Berkat Surabaya (Primary School) Learn Nature Education in P-WEC

Petungsewu Wildlife Education Center (P-WEC) was visited by school children of SD Citra Berkat Surabaya (Primary School) on 13 January 2012 to learn about nature conservation. 45 students of 6th grade (12 years old) were led by P-WEC educators and facilitators to learn and experience about the nature in P-WEC's natural center.

In the two-day activities, the children learned about river ecosystem, pollution, and introduction to insects. During the evenings, participants did night trekking to watch the nocturnal wildlife. While in the river ecosystem, the methods were delivered by P-WEC team through games and adventures so that students can learn about wildlife and ecology in the river while having fun. It was the first time for most students to get into a clear and freshwater river located by the foothills of Kawi Mountain, East Java.

Such activities were new experiences to learn about nature directly in the natural places for most students that they never got from their school. Moreover, for students who live in one of the metropolitan cities in Indonesia, Surabaya, most students of SD Citra Berkat Surabaya enjoyed the nature education presented by P-WEC.
