Merubetiri National Park Officers Learn about Wildlife Conservation

The Control Division of Forest Ecosystem (abbreviated and known as PEH) officers of Merubetiri National Park that is located in East Java, learned more about wildlife conservation in ProFauna's education center called Petungsewu Wildlife Education Center (P-WEC) from 21st to 23rd February 2012. During the three day training, the officers learned about inventory of wildlife (birds, bantengs, and fish), water management, and ecotourism development. The activities were divided into indoor and outdoor learning, especially for the bird inventory activities.

The bird inventory training was given by one of P-WEC educators, Asep Purnama, who has conducted several bird studies. Meanwhile, the ecotourism development was presented by ProFauna Indonesia's chairman, Rosek Nursahid, who has visited the national park for several times.

It was the second training they had in P-WEC. The trainees stated that they enjoyed following the activities in P-WEC because of the natural atmosphere the center offered and the thorough information of wildlife conservation the educators presented. Not only gaining about the conservation knowledge, the trainees also had fun following the outbound activities led by P-WEC facilitators because the center is also known as an outbound center which prioritize comfort and safety.
